The Rabbit and the Hat

A People of God Fable

CHARACTERS

The Rabbit and the Hat

There once was a Rabbit in a Hat,

And then he came out of it,

The Rabbit in a Hat.

A Fish came up and asked, “So what’s the difference?

Are you a rabbit or a hat?”

“Oh, it’s nothing like that,” said the Rabbit and the Hat.

“I’m a Rabbit and that’s a Hat.”

“But a rabbit is nothing like a hat!”

“Oh so I know,” said the Rabbit and the Hat.

“In fact, a Rabbit and a Hat make a Habit just like that!”

“And so a hat is a rabbit like that?”

“Oh no,” said the Rabbit and the Hat.

“For a Rabbit in the Hat is a Rabbit

And a Hat without a Rabbit is a Habit in fact!”

“Oh so I see,” said the Fish indeed.

“A rabbit in a hat is a rabbit in fact,

And a hat without a rabbit is a habit in fact,

But what pray-tell is a habit without both?”

“Oh you silly Fish, can you not see your bowl?”

And they laughed and laughed about a Habit indeed,

For a Habit in fact is only a Rabbit in a Hat

And a Rabbit in fact is a Rabbit without a Hat like that!
